For everyone
As we get closer to the April 24, 2026 deadline for digital accessibility compliance, we want to remind you of a few resources to help you get there:
- If you have not already started, the remove step is the best place to start. The content audit and inventory resources/templates are great resources.
- For the revise step, here are a few tools available, depending on the document type:
- Grackle Docs, Grackle Sheets, and Grackle Slides
- Adobe Acrobat Pro Accessibility Checker
- Microsoft Accessibility Checker
- After using an accessibility checker, you still need to complete a manual review using the 7 Core Accessibility Skills, because these tools, though helpful, may not catch everything.
- Digital accessibility resources are also available, including self-learning and training materials by content type, to help you in this work.
- For email:
- Work with Sam Wisneski in Extension communications to get Smores and SMC emails tested with Litmus.
- For social media:
- Graphics - including social media specific graphics, photography and flyers shared to social media - must meet contrast, alt text and other standards.
- Email Sam Wisneski with any questions, including a link to your channels.
- All videos on Youtube – and posted to social media starting April, 2026 – will need captions added.
- For the web:
- If you have a Google site, email Caleb Twiggs to have it reviewed.
- For your county Extension page, contact Kristie Gaalswyk-Pomerenke with any questions.
- If you’re not sure where to start for the revise step, this matrix can help you prioritize.
Finally, as you’re creating new documents, review the accessibility workflow to help guide you through the process, and feel free to reach out to any of us with questions.
