Are you curious to learn more about promotion? Please join the promotion overview webinar with Jennifer Skuza on Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. All are welcome.
Are you interested in going up for promotion early in 2026? To do so, you'll need to submit a near final draft of your CV and narrative to Jennifer by June 12 for her review. If she approves, she'll write a letter of support on your behalf to Dean Durgan by June 30. If approved, you may proceed with the timeline.
To support you, enroll in the 2026 Youth Development promotion cohort course designed for all YD educators. This series of online modules and real-time support will provide an overview of the promotion process with resources and examples to help you successfully prepare your promotion materials. By the end of the 5-week cohort, you will:
- Complete a solid draft of your CV
- Submit a draft of your narrative for initial review
- Be assigned a promotion mentor group
Allow for about five hours per week to complete modules and assignments. Here's the 2026 schedule with weekly tasks to keep you on track:
- Module 1: Prepare for promotion (Jan. 26 - 30)
- Wednesday, Jan. 28, 11 a.m. to noon - Promotion overview webinar with Jennifer Skuza
- Module 2: Create your CV (Feb. 2 - 6)
- Thursday, Feb. 5, 9:30 to 11 a.m. - CV working session
- Module 3: Map your work (Feb. 9 - 13)
- Schedule 1:1 meeting with Kate during this week
- Module 4: Gather evidence to tell your story (Feb. 16 - 20)
- Module 5: Draft your narrative (Feb. 23 - 27)
- Wednesday, Feb. 25, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Writing retreat with mentors
- Independent writing in March - Submit Google Doc draft by Friday, March 27
- Initial review of your narrative to identify strengths, suggestions for improvement, and next steps. If you plan to go up for promotion in 2026, you'll be assigned a promotion mentor group.
